Nerd Cave!

If you're in Austin this week, please join us for the annual Nerd Cave!  I will be there pushing plenty of my Halloween Man stuff.

Lucy works out.

A preview page from out upcoming Lucy special by the talented Paul Tuma.

On the more adult side of things.

Here's an  interesting article a fan directed my way on size acceptance in the adult film industry.  From Cracked no less.  If there was ever a sign this topic is getting more mainstream, I'd consider this to be it. For goes the perverts, then goes the nation.

RIP Darwyn Cooke!

Since, everyone is talking about Darwyn Cooke, I thought I'd chime in as well. Not because it's needed or because I feel like I have the smartest things to say, but because I want to. I'm posting this piece of New Frontier art, which is my all time favorite saga of DC's iconic characters.

The art is amazing. It has what are probably my all time favorite designs for Wonder Woman and Superman. But even the minor characters spark with personality. However, people don't talk about the writing on this piece nearly enough though. There's some really strong stuff here. Which is even more impressive since Cooke is wearing both hats, but showing equal skill at both. Cooke infuses all of characters with great dialogue, which feels both period accurate and . real. He's able to infuse a lot of political ideas while keeping the story from falling into blind cynicism. Oh, and there's alien dinosaurs as well. It's pretty much awesome from start to finish. It's one of the comics that I keep going back too and it always makes me want to make more comics. It's one of the comics that sets a high bench mark and makes me want to do better. I'm sure a lot of us in this crazy business, feel the same. I think I'll re-read it this afternoon.

"I've knocked out Donald Trump over two hundred times!"

In March 1941, Joe Simon and Jack Kirby took a political stance against the rise of fascism in Europe with their famous creation, Captain America. Now in the 21st Century, a presidential candidate for the great United States of America, a man whom not long ago was seen as nothing more than a media farce, has risen through the ranks with his hatefilled rhetoric. The creative team of the underground comic, Halloween Man is honoring Simon and Kirby by taking a stance we hope they'd approve of. Donald Trump says he will "Make America Great Again." Well, I for one believe America is already great and one of the things that makes it so is its people. A people who are diverse culturally, racially, sexually, and religiously. America's melting pot culture is what gave us everything from Rock 'n' Roll to Chicken Fried Steak. I know I'm just the creator of an underground comic, but I love this country and seeing this hate sweep the nation is absolutely heartbreaking. So I'll fight it with the only weapon at my disposal, my characters. If anyone feels similarly powerless, please remember, we're not. Together, we can show Donald Trump and his followers, that America is better than his narrow view of it. I invite you to share this, print it up, paste it anywhere you want. This image is free. It's protest art. Please join Solomon and Lucy and help fight the monster of fascism on our homefront. Thank you.
